Hey Designers,
This week, we are discussing how a popular American chain lost $100 million overnight due to a logo redesign and how Google’s new AI tool, Nano Banana, is changing image editing.
Each week, we provide updates on design, including changes in branding, tools, and inspiring ideas. Here’s what caught our attention this week ↓

Cracker Barrel loses $100 million in value as stock plunges after new logo release
This week a famous American chain Cracker Barrel shed almost $100 million in market value Thursday after its stock plunged following the release of a new logo. The new design eliminates a longstanding drawing of an overall-clad man leaning against a barrel, in favor of a cleaner logo featuring just the chain's name.
They changes the 55-year-old chain's old-timey approach in favor of a more modern look. According to the company's website, the man and barrel in the old logo represented "the old country store experience where folks would gather around and share stories."

The company said. "Our values haven't changed, and the heart and soul of Cracker Barrel haven't changed,"
A design decision that was meant to “modernize” has turned into a PR headache.
Cracker Barrel has a massive chance here to reconnect with their audience in a playful, nostalgic, and human way. To take what’s currently being laughed at online and turn it into something people laugh with.
In the end, design can be changed, but brand trust is earned.
And nothing earns trust faster than humility, humor, and a little creative courage.
